The Fisheries Index for Sustainable Harvesting (FISH) integrates key outputs from stock assessment models, such as fishing mortality (F/F MSY ) and biomass-at-sea (B/B MSY ), relative to their respective Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY) limits.
Additionally, FISH includes three ecosystem overfishing indicators (Ryther, Fogarty, and Friedland), along with indicators for fishing-in-balance (FiB) and fisheries sustainability (FSI).
Finally, FISH calculates the mean weighted trophic level (mTLc) and mean weighted resilience (MRC) of the catch to examine community-level changes, as well as the mean weighted temperature of the catch (MTC) to capture climate-driven effects.
